Showering Cassi

As an only child, I always longed for a brother or sister when I was growing up. I never did get a biological sibling, but when I was 21 I married my darling husband and, in the process, I finally got a brother-in-law. Zack was 17 when we got married and he is the little brother I never had. From countless card games, to visiting him at college, heart to heart texting to watching him love my kids, Zack and I forged a bond that is just as real to me as if we shared blood. I've watched Zack grow from a scrawny 17 year old to an Army Ranger - from a boy to a man. And in a few weeks he's about to do the manliest thing he's done yet - pledge to love one woman for the rest of his life, for better or worse, in sickness and in health. And, you guys, the woman he's marrying? Her name is Cassi and she's one of my favorite people on the planet. The first time she came to a family gathering my husband and I looked at each other in amazement and said that she was the total girl version of Zack - boisterous, hilarious, and so genuine. It is hard to imagine two people more compatible! She is funny and encouraging, thoughtful and kind. She is smart and hardworking, having just completed her Masters degree in social work. She is loyal. She loves Jesus. She is beautiful.  I love her and I am beyond thrilled to share my last name with her in just a few short weeks!

As Cassi prepares to marry Zack, her closest friends and family picked a gorgeous day in April to shower her with love and presents. I snapped a few photos of the day and I think anyone who sees them will understand why I think this girl is so terrific.

Love you, Cassi!

He was wearing short shorts and American flag shirt and bore as striking resemblance to Zack! cassishower0021cassishower0020cassishower0022JJ3A5381cassishower0023I just can't wait for their June wedding!!!

Showering Baby White!

I met Morgan in 7th grade. We did a rap together about Tienanmen Square in world history and "ran" the mile together in PE. In other words, we go way back. Even back then, Morgan was as sweet as she was beautiful - and she's exceptionally beautiful, as you'll see in a second. And now, she and her adorable husband are having a baby! Morgan's sister, Whitney, is the creative genius behind Whit Mitt Design and Events and she put together one heck of a baby shower! A gorgeous Mama-to-be, loving friends and family, a stunning backyard and beautiful details ... it was the perfect way to shower Baby White with love.

Fifty Years of Love

Fifty years of marriage. Fifty YEARS, people! What an incredible accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated! I felt so honored to photograph Bob and Haroldene's 50th anniversary party at their home. Everything was perfect - the food, the flowers, and the joy from family and friends excited to celebrate this lovable couple. It was truly an honor to be a part of it. Meet Bob, Haroldene, and their sweet family and friends.

Luke and Kim - Married!

They got married on the hottest day in the history of days, yet somehow Kim and Luke were both as cool and calm as ever. Surrounded by their loving family and friends, many of whom flew in from Luke's native Australia, they made the most of every second of their wedding day. They danced, they laughed, and, in a truly swoon-worthy moment, Luke serenaded his bride with love songs. Total perfection - the wedding and the couple. Kim and Luke, I feel so incredibly fortunate to have been able to document your wedding day. You two are absolutely perfect for one another - both so genuine, thoughtful, and fun to be around! I wish you blessings upon blessings as you begin your lives together as husband and wife!

The day began at the Westin Pasadena, where Kim and her beautiful bridesmaids prepared for the day ...Luke and Kim opted for a first look so they could enjoy maximum time with the guests who had traveled so far to see them. It was such a sweet moment!Following the first look, we took photos all around Pasadena City Hall. It was gorgeous and provided much appreciated shade for the bridal party and family! Once photos were done, we headed to First United Methodist Church. It was amazing - the church and the heartfelt ceremony. Kim and Luke had their family members come up to the altar to bless their wedding rings. Following the ceremony, we took a quick walk over the the reception at Noor.

Jonathan and Julia - Married!

Jonathan and Julia's wedding day was a day full of family, tradition, beauty, and love. Their marriage was blessed and embraced by so many people and even amongst the busyness that naturally occurs with a large wedding, Jonathan and Julia never let the other out of their sight. They'd been separated enough as Jonathan attended medical school in Wisconsin and Julia planned their wedding in California, and they weren't going to spend a minute of their wedding apart! A mingling of cultures, a celebration of love, and the beginning of a life spent together ... what could be better?

Julia started out preparing for the wedding at her family home while Jonathan got ready with his groomsmen.

The wedding ceremony took place at Harbor Christian Church and the stained glass at the front of the church was gorgeous!

Following their church ceremony, Jonathan and Julia also had a Persian ceremony known as an Aghd. It was beautiful and I loved all of the symbolism!

Following the Aghd, we had just a few minutes for photos around the location of their reception - The Turnip Rose in Newport Beach. I was so thankful that they chose such a gorgeous reception site because it allowed us to take a lot of photos in a very short period of time!

Ceremony site: Harbor Christian Church

Reception venue: Turnip Rose
