There's just no other way to say it, fireworks are magical. Fireworks remind me of childhood - specifically running barefoot in the grass waiting for the fireworks to begin on 4th of July. We HAD to run around because we were just too excited to sit still. Once the show finally started we'd collapse our heads back into our necks and let the colorful explosions paint our faces with light. The bangs were loud, but never too loud to hear the collective "oooohhh"s and "aaahhh"s of the crowd. Fireworks which lasted only seconds are frozen forever in my mind. As an adult, my excitement over seeing fireworks has not tempered in the slightest. Now they not only remind me of childhood fun but they are also symbols of patriotism. I don't know why a huge flash of colorful light reminds me that America truly is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but it does. And I hope I never get too old to "ooohhh" and "aaahhh" whenever I see fireworks.
